Forum A: Work, Migration, Subjectivity

When organising life and work, ideas and concepts like autonomy, self-determination and flexibility carry in themselves various different aspects of ‘land-taking’. Although we may voluntarily choose and prefer a certain flexibility, there is also distinct material pressure to be flexible. Thus even autonomy and self-organisation, developed once as a alternative to the tyranny of mass work, are now being appropriated in a neo-liberal manner. The discussion about precarization that arose as a result of these developments and that will be the underlying theme for all discussions within this forum, cannot ‘neglect’ unpaid labour or labour that has been declared illegal – and within this discussion we will have to develop ideas on how to ascertain social rights that will exist independent of paid labour.

Work groups will address topics such as: precarious life -precarious struggle; attempts to move between (self)utilisation and rebellion; precarious but autonomous; my precarious daily life; and how are you going to go on strike? Fighting precarity and illegalisation; basic income/ minimum wages/global social rights; various aspects of the concept of ‘precarization’; EuroMayday in Hamburg – interim results; precarious perspectives
