on foot:

Leave the main station at the western side and cross the inner city straight ahead: eg Nikolaistraße → Universitätsstraße → Roßplatz. From there turn right until you reach the crossing Harkortstraße, turn left and walk upto the first bridge over the canal, cross the Simsonplatz and straight on in the Wächterstraße, cross one minor street and now on your left side you will find the HGB.

By tram:

Take the tram from the main station: tram 8 (Grünau-Nord), tram 9 (Markkleeberg-West), or tram 14 (Plagwitz) and go until "Neues Rathaus" where you walk into the Harkortstraße, from here you follow the instructions from above.
