How racism is still affecting us. Racism critical workshop

Normative knowledge infusion happens already early at the institution school. Here the basic societal norms and attitudes are set as a foundation. "Africa" is the 8th grade part of the Bavarian syllabus. With the aid of a school book we will look at images and mental constructions that are part of a colonial context. The aim of the workshop is the sensitisation for educational contents that today are still infused with colonial-revisionist stereotypes. Images that link to racist ideologies have affects until today. They have survived and still coin consciously and subconsciously our social attitudes. We will trace these image. We will ask in which way we as individuals and groups can affect change.

Normative Wissensvermittlung geschieht bereits sehr früh über die Institution Schule. Hier wird u. a. der Grundstein für gesellschaftliche Werte und Einstellungen gelegt. "Afrika" ist in Jahrgangsstufe 8 Teil des bayrischen Lehrplans. Anhand eines Lehrbuchs zum Fach Geografie in der Jahrgangsstufe 8 untersuchen wir Bilder und Denkkonstruktionen, die im Kolonialbezug stehen. Ziel des Workshops ist die Sensibilisierung für bildungsrelevanten Inhalte, die heute noch von kolonialrevisionistischen Stereotypisierungen aus der Vergangenheit leben. Bilder, die an rassistische Ideologien anknüpfen, sind bis in die Gegenwart wirkmächtig, sie haben überlebt und prägen, ob nun bewusst oder unbewusst, gesellschaftliche Einstellungen. Wir gehen diesen (bild-)sprachlichen Spuren nach. Dabei soll auch die Überlegung eine Rolle spielen, inwieweit wir als Individuen oder gesellschaftliche Gruppe auf Veränderungen hin- und Inhalte einwirken können.
