'Struggles in the state of emergency: the campagne in lotta network, Italy'

Nach dem migrantischen Arbeiternnen-Aufruhr von 2010 in Rosarno, Calabria, entschloss sich eine Gruppe von Aktivistinnen, Farmarbeiterinnen, Produzentnnen, prekären Arbeiterinnen und anderen, alle aus verschiedenen Teilen Italiens, ihre Kämpfe zusammenzulegen. Sie gründeten ein Netzwerk, um Aktionen und Proteste voranzutreiben und die Ausbeutung im Agrarsektor mit der permanenten Erpressung von Kleinproduzentinnen durch Großbetriebe zu verbinden. Dem Beispiel der Migrantischen Diaspora von Rosarno folgend schlossen sich in Rom einige afrikanische Arbeiterinnen zum Assemblea dei Lavoratori Africani di Rosarno (Assembly of African Workers from Rosarno) zusammen, eine Bewegung, die die Formalisierung von migrantischen Arbeiterinnen durch Arbeitsverträge und Aufenthaltspapiere. Das Netzwerk wächst und und arbeitet an der Verbindung der Erfahrungen - vom Streik der migrantischen Farmarbeiterinnen in Masseria Boncuri, Süditalien im Sommer 2011, zu den Protesten im nördlichen Saluzzo Piedmont im Sommer 2012 und in Rosarno 2013. Von Beginn an versucht das Netzwerk die Mechanismen, die die migrantischen Arbeiterinnen in eine Unsichtbarkeit zwingen, zu brechen. Die Praktiken und Aktionen zielen darauf ab, Raum für Diskussion und Solidarität zu schaffen.

After the migrant workers’ riots which took place in Rosarno, Calabria in 2010, a group of activists, farm-workers, producers, precarious workers and others, coming from various parts of Italy, decided to unite their struggles and form a network to promote actions and protests linking the exploitation of labor in the agricultural fields to the constant blackmail enforced on small agricultural producers by great distribution chains. Following the migrants' diaspora from Rosarno many African workers got together and formed the Assemblea dei Lavoratori Africani di Rosarno (Assembly of African Workers from Rosarno) in Rome, a movement advocating the regularisation of migrant labor through employment contracts and the release of permits for undocumented migrant workers. Since these first struggles, the network has grown reaching various territories and working to link their experiences. From the strike of migrant farm workers in the Masseria Boncuri in the southern Italian area of Nardò, Apulia (summer 2011), to the recent protests in the Northern area of Saluzzo (Piedmont, summer 2012)and in Rosarno(2013). The network, since its formation, has attempted to break the mechanisms of seclusion to which migrant workers are subjected, through practices and actions aimed at the creation of spaces for discussion and mutual solidarity, to be used by the workers as platforms of political mobilization, and linked to the struggles of small local agricultural producers.
