Periphere "Homosexualitäten". Teil II

The construction of same-sex lust in the context of global poverty, religious fundamentalism and Western human rights imperialism. From its start, neoliberalism has been accompanied by the worldwide emergence of neofundamentalism, one of whose core features has been to relocate the focus of social contestations from poverty and exploitation to the normalisation of gender and sexuality. Conversely, international concern for the rights of "gays and lesbians" has also increased, though often only as a means of foreign policy. Yet even "true" solidarity work has to ask when it risks to get complicit, not only with the eclipse of class struggles, but also with the segregation of same-sex lust in the name of "liberation."
